3 Women-Led Small Businesses in Dunnville You Need to Know About

I love that Dunnville is a tight-knit community and the hometown pride runs deep. Locals are especially proud of our small businesses, local artisans and makers. Recently we've seen a fantastic surge in women-led businesses! Here are three stand outs you need to know about.

1. Daniel & Carmen Apothecary Co.

Founder, Alycia has entrepreneurial roots in this town. She’s business savvy to the core and what started out as a hobby quickly grew into a full-time career. Daniel & Carmen Apothecary Co. makes handcrafted woodwick candles using natural ingredients that smell amazing! My favourite sent is Vintage Vinyl with honourable mention going to The Real Housewives of Haldimand County.

Why It's Special: Daniel & Carmen Apothecary Co. isn't just about candles; Alycia knew that she wanted to help families live a more natural lifestyle, free of toxins and chemicals commonly found in candles. She also supports other local and women-led businesses and its clear she’s passionate about keeping the entrepreneurial spirit alive and well in Dunnville.

2. Bird Lane Soaps

This Mother, Daughter duo also has entrepreneurial roots in Dunnville (if your local, you know Laverty’s) and they’ve expanded the family business to include small batch handcrafted soaps. This charming line of delicious smelling soaps are super luxurious and leave your skin smooth and hydrated. Key Lime & Bergamot is my go to!

Why It's Special: This is more than a passion, it’s a true commitment! These ladies have been making soap for over 20 years! They’ve been a staple small business in Dunnville for a long time and it's awesome to see their dedication.

3. Olive's Heirlooms

If you’re at the Dunnville Farmer’s Market this stand is worth a visit and hands down one of my favourites! With everything from plants to small batch preserves, owner Sarah knows local flavours. Her strawberry Jam is perfectly sweet and her herb and spice blends are full of flavour.

Why It's Special: Sarah is all about local with a passion for things homemade and handmade. Her market stand is always unique and her vibrant flavours truly capture the essence of Dunnville's local agriculture.

Our business owners are a part of the fabric of our town, preserving traditions, promoting wellness, and capturing the essence of our local flavours. These awesome women and their creativity, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit help make Dunnville so special. Let's celebrate their success and continue supporting these amazing businesses that make our town an even more delightful place to call home.
